Human Chain for Palestine in Lisbon

MPPM took part in the Human Chain for Palestine initiative which, on Saturday 16 December, aimed to connect four symbolic sites in the city of Lisbon: Santa Maria Hospital, commemorating the Palestinian health workers victimised by Israel's genocidal aggression against Gaza; the Embassy of the United States of America, the biggest supporter of Israel's murderous campaign; the Israeli Embassy; and Alfredo da Costa Maternity Hospital, remembering the thousands of children killed in Gaza.

Many hundreds of people and various organisations responded to the call of the United Platform for Solidarity with Palestine by concentrating at the four locations and even forming a chain between the Israeli Embassy and the Maternity Hospital.

MPPM marched from Praça de España and concentrated in front of the US Embassy, where two speeches were given: one by Carlos Almeida, vice-president of MPPM, and the other by Sandra Monteiro, journalist and director of the Portuguese edition of Le Monde Diplomatique.
