MPPM AND CPPC AND EVOKE THE 64TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NAKBA IN A PUBLIC SESSION WITH PRESENCE OF THE AMBASSADOR OF PALESTINE

MPPM and CPPC jointly promoted the celebration of the 64th anniversary of Nakba at a public meeting held today, at the bookstore Ler Devagar.

Ambassador Mufeed Shami, the Palestinian diplomatic representative in Portugal, Carlos Almeida, member of the National Directorate of MPPM, and José Baptista Alves, Vice President of the National Directorate of CPPC, were the speakers at the well attended meeting.

The Nakba, which means catastrophe in Arabic, is commemorated annually on May 15, to mark the beginning of the tragedy that befell on the Palestinian people, persecuted, massacred and expelled from their land by the new Jewish occupants. The independence of the State of Israel proclaimed unilaterally on May 14, 1948, meant for the Palestinians the beginning of the devastation of their society, the emergence of a collective and individual drama that continues to this day. To evoke this date is an act of respect and solidarity with the courage and determination of a people who do not give up their dignity and that resist and keep alive the struggle for their inalienable rights.
